Band Camp & MixCloud

In chase you havne't noticed this already - this website has died.

The files that I had linked to were hosted on a platform that we are no longer using and aren't connected to anything meaningful.

So the the links in all my previous posts are very dead.

However, this post isn't all broken outdated links - no, today I have new fresh links - with content that hasn't been up before.

First - for DJ Mixes - you can check out my MixCloud Account:

https://www.mixcloud.com/DJBobBrown/

I will add mixes here as I am able to encode and update - enjoy.

Second for my original compositions - Paul Birken has urged me to create a BandCamp page, and it is up.  I have added FW01-05 already and more will come as I am able:

Please enjoy the mixes!

Live in Glasgow April 2003

I have so many mixed feelings about this show - so I waited a while to put it up (only 6 years).  It came up in my ipod the other day, and realized there was some good stuff on there.

John Clarke was the willing bassist from Glasgow who supported my mission:  Write an entire live show in a week using gear that I borrowed from people in Glasgow and incorporate live musician.

First song is pretty typical Bob Brown stuff.  The rest is very different.  Some down tempo, moody, "trip-hop", heck you can even hear a sample of me beat boxing in the one song.  This was my first time playing in  a "band" so John had to put up with some bad manners, but all in all it is fun stuff.  Let me know what you think:

Bob Brown - Composition 1 Mix Tapes

Does any one out there still listen to tapes?  Does any one out there still read this blog?

Either way - I have two (2) copies of Composition 1.  I believe this tape came out in 1996 or 98.  I worked with a tape distribution company, and have a few left over.

One is completely un-opened.  The first 2 people to respond can have them - all you pay is shipping.

Good Luck.

Bob & Mace 1998 WKDU Electronic Music Marathon

This was from the first annual (it has been 9 years now) WKDU Electronic Music Marathon on WKDU. Drexel University's college radio station. This was one of the first times that Bob and Mace tag teamed - this was record for record, and we had a blast.

Two one hour segments - quality is okay - off of a cassette. The MC you hear is DJ Jeff Knorr - aka Professor J. Good friend, so I will forgive him for dissing techno in the preliminary interview.

Enjoy:

DJ Bob Brown Plays a Church Basement

Welp - I am sure it will attract a slightly different crowd that some of my old gigs, but I am playing what has been titled a "Resurrection Rave" on Easter sunday in the basement of my church - Solomon's Porch. I am the only dj, and will probably only spin for about 2 hours or so. We have neighbors.

All are welcome, it will be relatively early, and there will be some drumming/drum circles before and after. But we have a pretty decent sound system and I will bring some very good (though a little old) records for the dancing. So here is the data:

Resurrection Rave
8pm - 10pm Sunday March 23rd 2008
@ Solomon's Porch
46th & Blaisdell Ave S.
Minneapolis, MN 55406

Come one come all - no statement of belief required for entry - and no tracts will be handed out ;)

WKDU Electronic Music Marathon

Well, 10 years ago in Philadelphia a couple of guys (one of them me) had an idea to start an electronic music marathon to raise money for local charities on our college station. This is the 10th year of the WKDU Electronic Music Marathon.

Each DJ plays for an hour and raises money like a walkathon.

If you like the electronic stuff - tune in - you can also donate on line to the PhiladelphiaFIGHT charity - the same non profit organization we sponsored on our first year. This goes till midnight on Sunday. You can see more info, a dj schedule at their myspace page.

Labels Added

To any who read this rarely updated blog - I made a point just now of adding Labels to all the posts - so that you can look at all the studio production, live dj sets, or live pa's all at once.

Over on the right, you will see a list of all the entries.

Enjoy.

Quadrat in Geissen Germany - January 2003

Well, this was a crazy weekend. I was in the Frankfurt airport 4 out of the 5 days, and running around with Ibrahim Alfa is a dangerous thing to do. Spend a little time in Brighton with his lovely daughter. She was excited to see me because of the crazy videos that used to be on the FrameworkMusic website.

Any ways - here is some madness for the masses - I believe there are a few surprises in there for ya. Enjoy:

Cosmium 2000 - Belgium?

Okay, so I really don't know where this came from. I was chatting with a man who trades live sets on the net, and he had this mix called Cosmium 2000 by me. So he sent me a copy and I can verify that it was me, and it was in 2000 - just by listening to the records and the mixing, but I don't know where or when this is from. Maybe I sent a CD over to a radio station? Pretty clean mixing for me - smooth transitions - it was before I started eating the lead paint off of my apartment walls.

Live in Stuttgart October 2000

This is a live set I wrote for my October 2000 tour of Europe - especially for my show in Glasgow with the Radar Posse. It was my first Live PA, and I did it using a program called Mboom, which was later called Muzys before it went out of business. Loads of fun.

Some updates

Howdy to any of y'all that are reading this thing. I have updated several things on the Blog:
1. Corrected some incorrect information, and bad links.
2. Added the Length and Size of the file: (1h22m11s/89.5MB)
3. Changed the format of the blog, because the numbers looked funny in the other font.
Let me know if there are any specific releases you are looking for me to post up here, and I will see what I can do to get them up here.
Remember, if you subscribe to the RSS feed you will find out every time I put some new tunes up here.
Bob.

Mental Industries 1 and 1.1

Here are my tracks from Mental industries. I think these releases came out in 2001 and 2002. Great label, with some really great stuff. These releases have sold out, and my contract ran out too - so might as well let people get a hold of the tunes.
This was my first celebrity Charting - Sven Vaeth put Crank on his top 10 list.

Live in Glasgow 2001 - Bob DJing

Here is a set from 2001 live in my favorite city to DJ in in the whole world. I came over with for the Glasgow/Radar posse, and threw down. There was some technical difficulties in the begining, but they got worked out. Crazy party - hope it makes sense for those of you who weren't there.

Check out this track from a compilation I did for Ibrahim Alfa. The record came out in 2002/03. Enjoy.

Composition 2 - Mixtape 1999

This is a 90 mixtape that was passed around in 1999 and 2000 when people still had cassette decks. Mixed on two decks, and the mixing might be a little better than the mixing on Afrika Aware.

Bob DJing at Tresor

Here is an an hour and 20 minutes of my 3 hours DJing at Tresor in 2003. Tried to piece it together a little bit, so it made more sence. I have given this one out on a CD called "Full Contact". If you listen close, you can hear the crowd - they were so loud, the record players recorded them.

This is a 90 minute live DJ set of Mace and I live at Nebulae in Philadelphia back in "the Day". 128kb - originally from DAT so it is pretty Good quality. Mixed on a Good ole Urei mixer. Knobtastic.
